Interesting facts about him:

Soon after his withdrawal from competitions he was given the Honoris Causa degree in Sport  Sciences by the University of Molise.

He has also performed the role of town councilor in Prato.

Being a very beloved, fascinating and likeable character, he has often appeared on television as a special guest, in some tv programmes like “La Strana Coppia” or “Buona la Prima” and he has also taken part in tv programmes as host.

In fact, from 2008 he co-hosted, first with Antonio Rossi, the programme “Ninja Warrior” broadcast on the satellite channel GXT; furthermore, during the tv season 2006/2007 he took part in the tv programme “Amici” hosted by Maria De Filippi, in a supervisory capacity of students of artistic gymnastics.

 During the London Olympics 2012 he worked for Sky Sport as a commentator.
