In 2009 during the “Giochi del Mediterraneo” which took place in Pescara, Andrea Minguzzi won the Silver Medal fracturing the ulnar ligament of his left elbow; this injury and the breaking of the cruciate ligament of his right knee will keep him away from competitions for two years. This fact compromised his qualification for the London Olympic Games of 2012, despite his great eighth place position at the World Championships of 2011 in Istanbul (Turkey).
